“Sometimes, God’s way up is down.
When you hit the bottom, that’s when you can start your way up.”
Thanks RMN!
For a hundred million times, I have proven that god is really good. He has his plans for each and every one of us. Honestly, I regret for there came a point in time where I questioned him for not complying with what I have prayed of, to what I have planned to. That time I don’t know why for the first time I felt so depressed. Depressed because of the failures I encountered during my search in aid of my internship. Failures, that leads to questions regarding my abilities, capabilities and knowledge. “I have done my very best but why they didn’t hire me? I know that they know I am better to that person but why they had chosen him instead of me?” lots of questions that I am very sad about. Everything was a combination of failures from the past till the present, so tiring physically, mentally and emotionally. Even when I applied in RMN Manila, I thought they are not going to accept me because they let me come back and come back. I had no choice but to come back not just because I need it but because I really want to get in hoping that they will finally accept me. It was Friday afternoon, and I was about to cry because for the fourth time in the same place someone told me “please come back on Monday.” Hopeless, fixing my requirements back to my bag, a big voice came out and approached me saying… “Ikaw ba yung nag-aapply for OJT?” I answered with a nod. He replied. “Sige balik ka sa Monday…..”[He paused for a second.] “Pwede ka ng magsimula.” My sad face was immediately covered with a happy face. I really felt relieved and thankful. All that I have uttered was “Thank you very much sir.”
Truly, big things come in small packages. It may come very slow but it will always be great. Same with my experience, it is not as easy as what I have expected but now, I am very satisfied with the outcome. I have learned my lessons. Everything was just a test. God knows what is best for me and he won’t just let me fall. What I have to do is to trust him. I realized that he really wants me to be with DZXL RMN Manila because he knows that the company and the people composing it will provide me great learning experience. The experience was really different compared to the environment we, students are encountering form the four corners of our classrooms, from the things we are learning from school. It is a totally different phase. Regardless the hectic and busy environment, I can proudly say that I’m in high spirits with the nature of experiences I have undergone in RMN because you are not just going to have the glimpse in one particular work rather, you will experience a variety of the whole world/reality of the AM radio business. I was assigned in different departments-Newsroom, Desk, Public Service and different beats (Malacanang, Senate, Congress, QCPD). I have also given the chance to be part of their radio programs like DZXL Express and Tech talk wherein I experienced speaking live on-air and be with some of the respected, talented and truly admired people in and outside RMN like Mr. Buddy Oberas. Definitely, RMN is the place wherein your potentials will be honed to the extreme. But still, like any other aspects of life, it is your responsibility to do what are necessary. It is your responsibility to prove your worth. It is no longer spoon feeding. Obviously, a great company needs worthy employees, those who are professional in every aspect, those who are disciplined, determined and have the initiative to contribute well in the company. So as a beginner or as an aspirant in this field, being a Socially Inclined Person Seeking In Position will no longer work. If you are like that, leave it behind because it is totally useless. What matters most are you as a whole; from the way you dress to your attitude towards your co-workers and most especially your attitude towards work. Even your company is the best among others if you do not know how to be proper, does not absorb learning opportunities they provided you, everything will come out nothing. To future interns, always remember that you have to give it your best shot. Every portion of the whole internship is relevant. Absorb everything. Do not think that you are just doing this because it is a requirement to be accomplished rather, think that this is what you want, this is what you love so you have to excel on this because at the end of the day, it is you who will benefit. What I have learned and the whole experience are something to be proud of. I will never be repentant that I chose DZXL RMN-Manila. I’m very contented with the whole experience and I want to shout out loud to everyone that I am now ready to face the professional world. Thanks to RMN.
My three weeks of training at DZXL RMN-Manila is such a great experience that I will be keeping for the rest of my life. It has been a short stay but I consider the most memorable chapter that when I look back, I will just smile and say I missed them! No words can describe how RMN Manila/the people composing it made me feel proud about my self. They made me realized that, “Oops! Yvette you are important, you are good, you can be somebody.” Everyone was very good to me, very accommodating. They do not hesitate to teach me what I need to learn. They made me feel I am really part of the family. I can say that in RMN, I have met the real people. No pretensions at all. So, I would like to take this opportunity to thank them. Send them even in this simple piece of paper how thankful I am that once in my life; I have met really nice persons…

§To Kuya Eric, the joker. Thank you for I could always go to you whenever I don’t have someone to talk to. Thank you for your brain teasers that are very hard to answer and for your words of wisdom which I think you got from your great great grandparents right? Haha… stay happy and cool!
§To Sir Michael Rogas, the funny and cool Sir Mike. The cutest reporter of RMN, not just cute in face but also cute in height ;) peace… I’m just joking. Thank you for everything especially when we are assigned at the senate. You gave us time even if you are too busy. Thank you!
§To Luisa, my co-trainee, my buddy. Thanks for your assistance. I’m very thankful you are there who doesn’t hesitate to share what you knew. You are a big help. Thank you very much for your trust, company and friendship.
§To Sir Emman, Mam Susan, Sir Ariel Fernandez, to my co-trainees, to the rest of the technical crew, to everyone in RMN-Manila, thank you for being part of my unforgettable On the Job Training experience. All of you are the best. Hope working with you in the future. Let me say this for the last time now, my favorite line in the station, “Kasama mo sa balita, ang inyong Responsableng Mamamahayag Ngayon, Yvette Ramirez, Tatak RMN!”
